Day 4

josh is 4 days old today and he's doing much better. no more CPAP up his nose since he is able to breathe on his own now. he is still being fed by a little tube, but they have it down his nose into his stomach now. he didn't really like having the tube down his throat to be fed...

kelly and i were at the hospital for about 9 hours today (noon til 9pm). we were able to hold him for a while which was fun! probably about 4-5 hours of holding time for us today...

he still has his little cone head but that will slowly fade away...

so we will see how he does through tonight without any help breathing. he should be fine! the next test for him will be to see how well he can handle bottle feeding. kelly has been pumping away so he has been enjoying freshly squeezed breast milk from the start. the nurse today said that they like to see 2 consecutive days of bottle feeding without any issues before sending a baby home - drinking and breathing at the same time is really what they want to see from him.
