Haven't updated in a while!

Well I have been getting in trouble for not updating the blog!

Here is the latest! My dad took last week off to hang out with Josh and I. He was in his glory for the entire week to say the least. We did lots of errands, it was actually really nice out last week and went for a few walks. I also has my 6 weeks postpartum appointment. Yes Joshua is 6 weeks old already! I can't even believe it!

3 days last week Josh slept through the night ( I got a 6 hour sleep window!) I thought he would start doing it every night, boy was I wrong! Over the weekend he woke up every 4 hours to eat, but then last night he slept through the night again... so we will just have to wait and see! He is now drinking 120cc (4 ounces). He is a little porker! He is really filling out now! He has 2 chins and he is almost out growing his newborn size diapers! We have a pediatrician appointment 2 weeks from tomorrow, then we can see how much he weights.

He is much more alert after his feeds, actually starting to play more! Joe's aunt gave us a play mat, Josh seems to be enjoying it!

Joe's First day back to work

Well Joe had to go back to work at some point! Today I spent the day with Josh alone! We both did really well (I think). I can't believe how fast the day went by! I even found time to take a shower and make dinner for Joe and I.

Here is a picture from the day....

Doctors apointment today!

My little man is now a porker! He had a doctors appointment today for a weight check and he now weighs 6 pounds 9 ounces. He is up almost a pound from last week! Can you believe it?! The pediatrician wants us to keep doing what we are doing (keeping up with the increased calorie breast milk) for now. Josh doesn't have to see the doctor again until beginning of April for start of his immunizations - YIKES!!

The little man got a bath tonight, I swear he is starting to love it! Here is a picture post bath time!

2 weeks and 2 days old

Many people have asked me to update the blog since I haven't done so in a while! So here is the progress we have made..

Josh had a little procedure to fix his "tongue tie" he did really great with it. He was actually more upset they were holding his hands down than he was to have it done. It also was much more traumatic for Joe and I than it was for him. It took maybe 30 seconds and he started eating right after. He has been moving his tongue around like crazy and eating a lot better. We are really glad we just got it over with! Josh also went to his pediatrician for the first time. He weighted a whooping 5 pounds 10 ounces. We go again to the pediatrician's office on Wednesday for another weigh in to make sure he is gaining weight.

He continues to eat like a champ. He is waking up pretty much on his own every 3 hours, and eating 80cc almost every feed and breastfeeding the opposite feed. He seems to have his days and nights confused as most babies do. He is ready to party in the middle of the night after his feeds and the last thing he wants to do is go back to sleep. Joe and I are taking turns getting up with him so we both are getting pretty good chunks of sleep every night.

The 3 of us have been out and about as well. The pediatrican said it was fine to do so. We have been to the grocery store and babies r us. Josh slept the entire time and he didn't even know he was out!

Josh has had 2 baths at home. I don't have pictures from the first bath since it was far to stressful to take pictures! He did much better with the second one. Joe and I figured out a system that went much smoother!

Here is a picture after his second bath...

Here is a picture of Josh in his boppy chair. He really hasn't figured out if he likes it yet...

Day 16 - Awww home at last!

We are finally home! Josh is doing great! He is eating like a champ! As soon as we transferred to Emerson Hospital he figured out that he needed to eat. All the nurse and doctors were great and I am glad we transferred there. Josh got to sleep in our room Sunday night into Monday at the hospital...he had a really good night. We also met Josh's pediatrician who made a special stop at the hospital to met Joe, Josh and I. Josh had many visitors over the weekend.

Josh with no tubes! Finally...

Family photo!

Here are some pictures of everyone holding Josh. Great Aunt Judy...

Uncle Jay (Joe's brother)...

Aunt Judy (someday I assume)...

Aunt Christine (aunt by friendship)...

Josh had his circumcision on Monday. Much more traumatic for Joe and I than Josh! One minor thing is Josh is what they called "tongue tied"... meaning the little piece of tissue that holds his tongue to the bottom of his mouth is a little longer that it should be. On Wednesday we have to go back to Emerson to have it "clipped" it will only take 10 minutes and Josh will be able to eat better! We should only be at Emerson for 1 hour tops.

Day 14 - Two weeks old today!

We had a very busy day today which is why I am so late in updating this blog. First off Josh pulled his NG tube out (the tube that is going up his nose into his belly) Friday night. Apparently he decided he didn't need it any more! No more tubes...

He has been drinking like a champ ever sense! At around 11:00am Saturday he left BI to move to Emerson in Concord. His favorite nurse Eileen and 2 ambulance drivers brought him to Emerson on a little stretcher (big ambulance though!) He did great on the ride down - slept the entire time and probably doesn't even know he moved.

At Emerson, Josh is the only baby in the special care nursery! (they claim it's their slow time) Josh is getting all the attention he needs! We spoke with his new attending - the pediatrician who is looking after him while he is here. She changed a couple of things that we had been thinking about for a while. First she is letting Josh eat every 3 hours and now he only needs to finish 43cc every 3 hours instead of the 63cc that BI was making him do every 4 hours. The next thing is they increased the calories in his breast milk. This is done by adding a scoop of powdered formula to my breast milk making it 22 calories an ounce instead of 20 calories an ounce. Every other feed he will get my breast milk straight up. The other feeds he will get the higher calorie milk from a bottle. This is great because I can still breast feed and he is getting more calories to help him gain weight. We are currently 15 grams away from his birth weight.

The most exciting part of the day is Joe and I have a post partum room and Josh is allowed to be in the room with us! No monitors! We were both so excited to get him in the room with us we just kept looking at each other and were like "now what do we do!?" He spent a lot of the day in the room with us, at night he goes in the nursery to be monitored but I still can feed him every 3 hours - the nurse brings him down to us.

He had his hearing test last night... He passed just fine. He also passed his car seat test. They have him sit in the car seat for 90 minutes while hooked up to the monitor to make sure he doesn't drop his heart rate, or oxygen.

Josh had a couple of visitors today. Papa Joe (Joe's dad) finally got to hold Josh after much anticipation (every time he came to visit him at BI Josh was sleeping in his crib!) He was very excited. Grammy Carol, Jenna and Mandy (Joe's cousin) also visited. Mandy also got to hold Josh for a while but we don't have a picture on our camera that we can post for all to see. If Josh can keep up his feeding it looks like we will be home soon! Possibly early next week! Everyone keep your fingers crossed! :-)
